This year for Language Arts I chose my fiction piece for my reflection which was my most recent piece I finished. Skills I needed were that I needed to create a character’s internal and external traits and I needed to create the way a character moves. I also had to create a very detailed setting. I am proud of this piece because I never thought could write this much with as much detail as I wrote with. I am proud of this piece also because it was fifteen pages long and my characters generated well and I got them to adapt to the story. Things that I would improve in the story are that I would put more conversation into specific spot in the story that I think needs it. A thing that I would not improve in my story is my narration because I think I did a pretty good job for a kid at my age. To show you how my story was following this sentence is a one page excerpt. When they were all stretched out and warmed all of their arm muscles up they were ready to head out and go hunting for white-tails. Austin went for the northern stand at the top of the ridge and Jake went for the western stand on the deer trails were the deer drop of the ridge to the valley. When Austin found his stand it was about 5:45 a.m. and he took the safety precautions by tying the bow to the string, then climbing up the ladder of the tree stand, and then pulling the bow up to him. When Jake got to his stand he did the same thing by following the safety precautions. They both waited for a while for any action from the white-tail deer in the areas. Austin’s first sighting of a deer was only a small four pointer and Jakes first sighting was only a really small spike. Then Austin heard a ton of grunting from down the ridge. Then he watched a doe run by right under his tree-stand and she came from the exact spot of where the grunting was. Then he looked down to the spot where the doe ran from and sure enough he sees a massive fifteen point buck that came from down he ridge. The buck was on the move and just in case he came close enough Austin grabbed for his bow and got ready to pull back if the buck got in range of his bow which is about seventy yards. Sure enough the buck came in range which was about twenty eight yards. Just to make sure Austin pulled out his range finder and it was about twenty three yards on a thirty five degree angle. Austin drew back his bow and when the deer stopped he let go……… The deer jumped and Austin new that he got a great hit so he waited for twenty minutes and then he went to go retrieve it. He followed the blood trail and then found it. Then he pulled out his phone and took a picture of it and sent it to Jake, his mom, and his dad.
